Dive Bar Mixer
YES, NUEA is bringing back the popular Dive Bar Mixer night!
This time we're heading over to Santa Monica to one of my favorite Dive Bars, The Joker Bar. You might run into Keifer Sutherland getting hammered (my best friend has) or maybe Peter Dante (google him) might buy all your drinks that night (happened to me). It's a legendary dive bar with plenty of parking and great tunes on the Juke box. I look forward to seeing you all there.
Wednesday October, 5th, 2011 at 7:00 until you feel like going home.

SURVIVING LA!!!
The annual NUEA panel event for people looking to make their mark on this town or switch directions and want to see how others have done it before them. The panelists are alumni representing various aspects of the entertainment industry, covering their road from NU to Hollywood along with any interesting insights, anecdotes, and words of advice for fellow alums pursuing entertainment careers. It's rare to get this many people in one room at the same time with such vast experiences and points-of-view so be sure to come on out! The panel will be followed by a Q&A to ask any specific, direct questions.
This year’s panelists include:
- Meghan Markle (actress, USA Network’s “SUITS” and HORRIBLE BOSSES)
- Louie Provost (Disney Studio Executive, upcoming MUPPETS)
- Jodi Hildebrand (VP for Will Gluck’s Olive Bridge – FRIENDS WITH BENEFITS, EASY A)
- Richie Keen (director/writer/actor, Comedy Central’s “IMPORTANT THINGS WITH DEMITRI MARTIN,” CBS’s “HOW TO BE A GENTLEMAN”)
- Mike Gagerman (feature/tv writer, Sony’s ROAD TO NARDO, CBS’s “Shh…Don’t Tell Steve”)
- Alex Douglas (actor/writer, USA Network’s “ROYAL PAINS”)
- April Wright (Sundance Programmer and independent writer/director/producer)
And moderated by Josh Goldenberg (lit manager at Kaplan/Perrone, former VP of Red Wagon – upcoming GREAT GATSBY, WETTEST COUNTY IN THE WORLD)

Time: Doors open at 7:30 - panel will go until about 10 pm

Fast Talk Screening
WHEN:
Sunday November 6, 2011
3:00 PM
Q&A with filmmaker (and NU professor) Deb Tolchinsky to follow
WHERE:
The Ray Stark Family Theatre, SCA 108, George Lucas Building
USC School of Cinematic Arts
900 W. 34th Street
Los Angeles 90007
Check out FAST TALK, NU professor Debra Tolchinsky's documentary following the Northwestern debate team as it tries for a second consecutive championship. The film also examines why debaters now talk so fast and how their arguments are unintelligible and inconsequential to a non-debate audience. Clearly there are benefits to fast-talking--more arguments presented in a shorter amount of time. But is there a dark side? Has debate slowly morphed from an academic activity meant to train young minds to an activity meant to train winners regardless of whether or not they know how to communicate and/or form nuanced arguments?
Cost:
Admission is free but reservations are required. Reserve your seat here: http://cinema.usc.edu/events/event.cfm?id=12032
